Lontrell Williams Sr., father of Memphis rapper Pooh Sheisty, has been granted and subsequently posted a quarter of a million-dollar bond and was released from a Dallas jail as the federal kidnapping and robbery case against Williams, Sr., Pooh, and several alleged co-defendants continues.
In addition to Pooh and his dad, seven other co-defendants, including Big30, a fellow Memphis rapper, are accused of executing an armed and violent ambush of rap superstar Gucci Mane at a Dallas recording studio on January 10.
Gucci Mane, birth name Radric Davis, reportedly anticipated a business meeting but instead he, prosecutors say, found himself the target of a kidnapping and armed robbery.
According to investigators, on the day of the incident, multiple individuals armed with weapons relieved Gucci and at least one of his associates of jewelry and cash and also allegedly forced Gucci to sign an agreement releasing Pooh from his contract deal with Gucci’s Atlanta-based 1017 Brick Squad record label.
Pooh’s father is alleged to have printed the contract documents at an area Staples. Federal investigators claim Williams, Sr., was caught on the store’s video surveillance system preparing the documents for printing.
According to reports, a federal judge decided that bond conditions would require home confinement due to the violent nature of the charges.
Pooh Sheisty, born Lontrell Williams, Jr., released his first single “Hell Night”, featuring Big30, independently in 2019. Pooh’s music caught the attention of Gucci Mane, a rap icon who built his own label, 1017 Brick Squad, into a recording powerhouse. Pooh was later signed to the Brick Squad label.
Pooh was released from federal custody last October after having been released early on a 5 year sentence on federal gun charges.
Pooh is currently in jail awaiting trial. He has been denied bail.
