Area Clergy Visit Fulton County Voter Workshop, Express Concerns Over Vote Sanctity, Decry Trump Administration’s Efforts To Disenfranchise Georgia Voters

Members of The Concerned Black Clergy, led by Bishop Greg Fann, a former East Point City Councilmember, last week visited the Fulton County Voter Registration And Elections Office for the voter information workshop being offered by the county.

The clergy expressed their concern over voting changes that will affect Fulton county voters not only in the upcoming midterm elections but moving forward as well.

“We are deeply concerned about this election”, said one of the spiritual leaders present. “Not just because we saw Tulsi Gabbard hiding in the shadows, not just because the FBI came and took siege of our voting data”, he added, pointing out that the Trump White House is building a ballroom “illegally” while also “illegally” disenfranchising voters in Fulton county.

“We want the Fulton county commission chair, and the legal department, to explain to us…what their plan is, and how they’re gonna handle this upcoming election in terms of having our votes taken away from us”, Bishop Fann said in part of his closing remarks.

The FBI raided the Fulton County Election Hub in Union City, Georgia, on January 28, 2026, as part of a revived federal investigation into the 2020 election. This marked the first time the DOJ seized state election records against local objections.

Fulton County, led by Chairman Robb Pitts, promptly sued the DOJ. That case is still pending.

The United States Supreme Court paved the way for the the Trump administration to continue its gerrymandering push after it mitigated critical portions of the 1965 Voting Rights Act Section 2, which for decades prevented states from enacting discriminatory electoral maps and voting systems that weaken minority political influence.

The Trump administration has been aggressive at advocating for gerrymandering districts across the country in the run-up to the November election, where Republicans are widely expected to lose seats in the U.S. House and Senate.

The Trump adminstration is presently a plaintiff in litigation before the Supreme Court in order to allow the administration to use the U.S. Postal Service to limit the distribution of mail-in ballots across the nation.

Democratic activists, clergy, and officeholders have urged voters to get registered and be sure to vote in the upcoming election.

“It’s about all of us, our children most especially”, said Mr. Walter D. Andrews, a longtime labor leader. “They’re taking away education, healthcare, the right to food…”, he continued.

The Trump administration has successfully revamped one of the nation’s core nutrition assistance programs, SNAP. In Georgia alone, enrollment in the program has been drastically reduced due to the extensive changes made by the federal government.
