75 Year Old Woman Shot, Seriously Wounded Near Washington Road And Camp Creek Parkway: Victim Reportedly Serves As Community Food Volunteer

East Point police are actively investigating the shooting of a 75-year-old woman who was known for her community service in the area. The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, near Washington Road and Camp Creek Parkway in East Point, Georgia.

According to the East Point Police Department, emergency personnel responded to a call around 9:30 a.m. regarding what was initially reported as a fall injury. However, while first responders were en route, they received updated information indicating the elderly victim was actually suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

By the time police officers arrived at the scene near Washington Road and Camp Creek Parkway, the woman had already been moved into a Grady Memorial Hospital ambulance for emergency treatment. An update on her medical condition has not yet been publicly released by authorities.

Struck While Serving the Community

As detectives and crime scene technicians began interviewing people in the area, a heartbreaking detail emerged. Local employees familiar with the victim told officers that the 75-year-old woman frequently traveled to that specific location for a selfless purpose: to distribute food to local community members in need. Witnesses who spoke with police noted that they only arrived at the site after the gunfire had already ceased.

Multi-Agency Investigation Underway

The East Point Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has taken full charge of the case. To assist in the recovery of evidence, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) deployed a specialized K-9 unit to help sweep the surrounding area.

According to police, officers are now canvassing the neighborhood for additional witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage from local businesses operating near Camp Creek Parkway, and processing ballistics and physical evidence gathered at the scene.
