A lucky lottery player in Georgia matched five numbers in Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing to win a staggering $4 million.
The winning ticket was sold for the July 14 drawing at FOE Aerie 4379 Inc. in St. Marys, Georgia. Because the grand prize jackpot went untouched, the top prize now rolls over to an estimated $672 million for the upcoming drawing on Friday, July 17.
The Winning Numbers and Multiplier
The winning Mega Millions numbers drawn on Tuesday night were 2, 4, 10, 48, 56, and the Gold Mega Ball was 22.
The fortunate Georgia player successfully matched all five white-ball numbers, which normally triggers a standard $1 million “Match 5” second-tier prize. However, because they opted to add the optional Megaplier feature to their ticket—which turned out to be 4X for Tuesday’s drawing—their secondary prize quadrupled to a massive $4 million.
Two other players across the country also found themselves holding million-dollar Match 5 tickets from the same drawing:
A winner in New Jersey utilized a smaller multiplier to take home $3 million.
A winner in Florida took home $2 million.
Jackpot Hits $672 Million
Since no ticket nationwide managed to match all six numbers to claim the ultimate grand prize, the jackpot continues its months-long climb. The jackpot stood at $637 million on Tuesday night and has now officially jumped to an estimated $672 million for Friday.
If you missed out on the Mega Millions excitement, lottery players will quickly get another shot at a massive payout. Tonight’s Powerball drawing features an estimated jackpot of $498 million.
How Winners Claims Their Millions
The identity of the $4 million Georgia winner has not yet been publicly released. According to state regulations, players who score major prizes must redeem their winning tickets directly at the Georgia Lottery headquarters located in downtown Atlanta. Under Georgia law, lottery winners who secure prizes of $250,000 or more have the legal right to remain anonymous if they submit a written request to keep their personal details confidential.
