A person was hit and killed on I-75 in the early morning hours today, prompting an investigation and leading to extensive traffic backups that closed all lanes of travel and could delay traffic for hours more.
All northbound traffic is being taken off at Peachtree-Pine St (Exit 249).

If traveling into Downtown Atlanta, expect delays or try to find an alternate route to minimize travel time.
Officials have not released the name of the deceased pedestrian.
