A Fulton County jury returned a guilty verdict on all counts Tuesday against former East Point police officer Richard Goodine, concluding a high-profile retrial involving allegations of on-duty sexual assault.
Goodine was convicted on five counts, including child molestation and aggravated sexual battery. The verdict comes after a 2022 trial ended in a partial mistrial when a previous jury deadlocked on these remaining charges.

- Count 3 — Enticing a child for indecent purposes — Guilty
- Count 4 — Threatening or causing harm to hinder or delay testimony or prosecution — Guilty
- Count 5 — Threatening or causing harm to hinder or delay testimony or prosecution — Guilty
The prosecution successfully argued that Goodine used his position of authority to prey on multiple women and girls. Among the victims was a 15-year-old girl whom Goodine detained for a curfew violation before assaulting her.
Following the reading of the verdict, Goodine was taken into custody. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years and up to life in prison for the convictions. A sentencing date has not yet been announced.
