A quiet Sunday morning erupted into chaos as a massive, multi-agency law enforcement response converged on a townhome community in East Point, Georgia.
Armed officers, tactical vehicles, and a SWAT team surrounded the Bayberry, Villages of East Point complex along Bayrose Circle following reports of gunfire early Sunday.
Witnesses and neighbors reported an unexpected and terrifying early morning scene as the action unfolded. According to local reporting by WSB-TV, residents heard multiple gunshots echo through the community.
Shortly after, heavily armed officers were observed running toward a specific townhome with large firearms drawn, shouting commands for occupants to exit the property immediately.
The East Point Police Department is leading the active investigation which includes support personnel from the neighboring South Fulton and College Park police departments. According to what we learned, a heavy perimeter was quickly established around the neighborhood by police.
As of late Sunday morning, no further information has been released by law enforcement officials who at this time declined to offer comment when contacted by The East Point News. We were advised the investigation is still underway.
