The East Point Police Department Invites You To “National Night Out 2026”

The East Point Police Department will be hosting its local edition of National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at East Point City Hall. The public is invited.

From The East Point Police Department:

What Is National Night Out?

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign designed to strengthen neighborhood camaraderie and improve police-community relationships. Held primarily on the first Tuesday of August, the nationwide initiative encourages residents to host local block parties, cookouts, and safety demonstrations with local law enforcement.

Typical Activities

While the event began simply as a symbolic effort where neighbors turned on their porch lights, it has evolved into a widespread celebration. Typical activities include:

Block parties, potlucks, and neighborhood cookouts, safety fairs and emergency vehicle displays (such as police cruisers and fire engines), family-friendly entertainment, including bounce houses, live music, and face painting and informational booths offering resources on mental health, drug addiction, and community outreach

You can learn more about the national movement, find registered local gatherings, or register your own neighborhood block party through the National Association of Town Watch.
