Dream Deferred: The Atlanta Dream Fall At Home To Golden State, 67-62: Game 5 Moves Back To Cali In Best-Of-Seven Championship

The WNBA Finals are headed toward a decisive showdown after the Golden State Valkyries salvaged what appeared to be a team headed to a championship loss and defeated the Atlanta Dream, 67-62, in Game 4 on Saturday afternoon at State Farm Arena. The victory pulls the expansion Valkyries even at 2-2 in the best-of-seven championship series.

Atlanta found itself in an early hole, struggling against Golden State’s defense. The Dream went into halftime trailing 42-26 after failing to find a consistent rhythm in the first two quarters.

Though the home crowd rallied behind a fierce late-game surge by Atlanta, the 16-point deficit proved too large to overcome.

Rhyne Howard led the scoring effort for the Dream, finishing with 19 points. However, Atlanta’s offense sputtered as star forward Angel Reese endured a difficult shooting performance, going 2-for-12 from the field to finish with 8 points.

Gabby Williams spearheaded the Valkyries’ attack, netting 17 points while anchoring a defensive unit that disrupted Atlanta’s passing lanes and forced critical turnovers down the stretch.

With the series tied, the teams will head back to California for the final game to determine the WNBA champion.
