Atlanta Hawks Prep For Upcoming Season + Pre-Season Schedule

The Atlanta Hawks open their 2026–27 season with preseason games starting October 5, 2026, against the Memphis Grizzlies at State Farm Arena. Following exhibition matchups against San Antonio, Indiana, Oklahoma City, and Dallas, the team enters a pivotal new era under head coach Quin Snyder, leaning on a core led by All-Star forward Jalen Johnson and recent roster additions.

The front office is prioritizing depth and flexibility in free agency, bringing back veterans CJ McCollum and Buddy Hield.

The team declined Jonathan Kuminga’s $24.3 million option making him an unrestricted free agent, though discussions remain open to potentially bringing him back to Atlanta on a different deal.

Management is reportedly focused on incremental improvements and better half-court creation rather than blockbusting “all-in” trades, aiming to build a sustainable, deep roster.

Last season, the Hawks were one of the league’s biggest surprises, making it to the playoffs after parting paths with longtime beloved Hawk Trae Young. The team will battle it out with eventual NBA champion New York Knicks before exiting the season with a record-breaking loss to the Knicks 140-89 at home.

The Hawks hope to make a deeper post-regular season run in the upcoming season. Here’s a look at their pre-season schedule:

Monday, Oct 5: vs. Memphis Grizzlies

Thursday, Oct 8: @ San Antonio Spurs

Saturday, Oct 10: @ Indiana Pacers

Monday, Oct 12: vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

Friday, Oct 16: @ Dallas Mavericks
