The Chicago Bears Wallop The Philadelphia Eagles 27-7 On Monday Night Football As Case Keenum Leads Bears To Win After Nearly 3 Years Since He Last Took A Snap

The Case Keenum revival hour arrived in primetime on Monday night, and the Philadelphia Eagles had absolutely no answer for it.

Stepping into the starting lineup for the first time in 1,009 days, the 38-year-old journeyman quarterback orchestrated a masterclass in efficiency, leading the Chicago Bears to a stunning 27-7 shellproofing of the Eagles at Soldier Field.

With franchise cornerstone Caleb Williams and backup Tyson Bagent both sidelined by injuries, head coach Ben Johnson turned to his third-string veteran. Keenum, who last started an NFL game nearly three years ago, looked entirely unbothered by the bright lights of Monday Night Football. He dissected Philadelphia’s defense from the opening whistle, finishing 24-of-34 for 247 yards, two passing touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

“Ben [Johnson] was cookin’,” Keenum said postgame, deflecting praise to his offensive coordinator.

Chicago’s offense set a physical tone early, but it was Keenum’s veteran poise that sustained drives. He found wideout Kalif Raymond for a touchdown to ignite the crowd, eventually building a lead the Eagles never threatened to erase. Raymond finished the night with six catches for 90 yards, while rookie receiver Luther Burden III added seven receptions for 61 yards and a score of his own.

As sharp as Keenum was, the Bears’ defense was equally ferocious. Chicago completely suffocated quarterback Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia attack, limiting the visitors to a meager 248 total yards. The Bears forced three critical turnovers, including two interceptions off Hurts, routinely handing Keenum short fields and erasing any hopes of an Eagles comeback.

Keenum put the final exclamation point on his fairy-tale evening in the fourth quarter. Capping off a grueling, soul-crushing 8-minute drive, the veteran quarterback snuck across the goal line for a 1-yard rushing touchdown to seal the 27-7 victory.

Prior to his breakout performance on Monday night, Case Keenum last played in a regular-season NFL game on December 24, 2023.

Playing for the Houston Texans at the time, he filled in for an injured C.J. Stroud in a 36-22 loss against the Cleveland Browns, where he threw for 62 yards and two interceptions before being benched for Davis Mills.

Monday’s game against the Eagles marked exactly 1,009 days since Keenum had last started a regular-season NFL game.

With the win, both teams move to 2-1 on the season.

Shortly after the final whistle, the Bears’ social media team delivered one last parting shot to their NFC rivals, posting a photo of the triumphant veteran quarterback with a two-word caption: “Case closed.”
