Rapper And Producer Gunna Sponsors Goodr + Gunna Back to School Event At Welcome All Park

Multi-platinum rapper and producer Gunna is continuing his efforts to reach out and support families in his hometown through a sweeping series of philanthropic efforts aimed at community elevation in the city of South Fulton.

Shifting the narrative from standard celebrity charity to institutional support, the Grammy-nominated artist has established deep recognition in the city via financial justice programs, sustainable basic-needs infrastructure, and official civic partnerships.

This weekend, Gunna, 33, hosted a major back-to-school giveaway that distributed school supplies, free backpacks, and much more. For several years, the rapper has also worked in conjunction with Goodr, an Atlanta hunger relief firm, to help tackle food insecurity in the area.

In 2024, Gunna launched a joint venture featuring his foundation, Gunna’s Great Giveaway, and the Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC), to provide a half-million-dollar initiative designed to deliver direct economic relief, professional infrastructure, and more to families and individuals in South Fulton’s 30349 zip code.

“When I launched Gunna’s Great Giveaway, my goal was to uplift my hometown by providing resources that could make a tangible difference in at least one household,” Gunna stated during the program’s rollout.

His continuous contributions prompted municipal leaders to cement his status in local history: The City of South Fulton officially designated September 16th as “Gunna Day,” an annual civic recognition honoring not only his artistic achievements but his ongoing commitment to community advocacy.

Former Mayor William “Bill” Edwards proclaimed the holiday in 2021 to honor the work of the Hip Hop superstar.
