Man Found Dead On Roof Of Cleveland Avenue Restaurant In Atlanta: Police Have Not ID’d Victim; No Cause Of Death Revealed

Authorities have launched an investigation after a man was found dead Monday morning on the roof of a local restaurant in Southwest Atlanta.

Atlanta Police and emergency crews responded to a call around 9:00 a.m. on September 14 regarding a person trapped at Walter’s Soul Food Cafe, located in a strip mall near the intersection of Cleveland Avenue and Forrest Hills Drive.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered the body of an unidentified male on the building’s roof. Witnesses at the location reported seeing a pair of legs hanging out of the restaurant’s HVAC ventilation system, suggesting the man had become tightly wedged inside the ductwork.

Atlanta News First dispatched a chopper that revealed an active crime scene investigation as fire crews and police investigators remained on the roof for several hours to safely remove the body from the vent and examine the scene.

The Atlanta Police Department has not yet released the identity of the man, nor have they commented on how long he may have been trapped before being discovered. Investigators are currently working to determine the cause of death and the circumstances that led the man onto the roof.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
