Fulton County Schools (FCS) has made history once again, shattering its own academic records to achieve a district-wide graduation rate of 93.44% for the Class of 2026. This milestone marks the sixth consecutive year of graduation growth for the district, representing a massive leap from the 85.5% baseline recorded just six years ago in 2020.
District leadership credited the historic numbers to targeted, data-driven student interventions and robust academic recovery programs. In total, 17 out of the district’s 24 high schools crossed the prestigious 90% graduation threshold this year.
While affluent north-county campuses like FCS Innovation Academy (above 99%) and Cambridge High School (above 97%) continued their streak of near-perfect graduation numbers, the true story of the 2026 data lies in the steady, resilient climb of South Fulton institutions—most notably in East Point.
Tri-Cities High School Fuels South Fulton’s Momentum
In East Point, Tri-Cities High School emerged as a key driver of the district’s equitable growth, reaching an official graduation rate of 89.5% for the Class of 2026.
Tri-Cities, widely recognized for its elite Visual and Performing Arts magnet program, has faced unique economic and systemic headwinds compared to its northern peers. Despite these challenges, the school’s 2026 numbers represent a 5.2 percentage point increase over its 2020 metrics. Educators attribute the progress to intensive, localized student tracking, flexible credit-recovery options, and deep community support systems engineered to keep at-risk seniors on the path to a diploma.
A Rising Tide Across Neighboring Communities
The upward trajectory at Tri-Cities mirrors a broader, highly celebrated transformation taking place across the entire South Fulton County region:
Creekside High School stole the regional spotlight by rocketing past the district average to post a historic 94.7% graduation rate.
Banneker High School continued its aggressive multi-year recovery, climbing to 86.2%—a monumental jump from its 76.9% low in 2020.
“I’m incredibly proud of the class of 2026, and the teachers, families, school and district staff, and communities who supported them,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said in a statement.
“It’s important to us that we’re not just increasing the graduation rate, but ensuring students graduate prepared for life. Together with schools, districts, and partners across the state, we’re ensuring that the high-school diploma in Georgia is a ticket to a successful future. Today’s news is a testament to our shared efforts to ensure Georgia students see the relevance of their education and are connected to opportunity in the future.”
With nearly 90% of East Point seniors now securing their diplomas on time, Tri-Cities High School is narrowing the historic achievement gap, and solidifying its place as a cornerstone of South Fulton’s academic resurgence.
