Keep your license handy, your insurance paid, and your tag current and if possible, handle that pesky traffic warrant–or the East Point Police Department will likely handle it for you, at their leisure. The department announced it will be conducting “road safety checks” this month via social media. The department cited Georgia Code § 35-2-33 in its announcement, which itself entails:
Traffic & Motor Vehicles: Enforcing laws regarding motor vehicle use, licensing, and registration.
Criminal Inquiries: Making initial inquiries into off-highway incidents where there are reasonable grounds to believe a criminal law is being or about to be violated.
University Escorts: Providing security protection and escorts for coaches, players, and officials at University System of Georgia four-year collegiate athletic events.
Public Event Crowd Control: Providing traffic enforcement on public roads heavily affected by sporting event crowds.
For more information, the non-emergency number for the East Point Police Department is: (404) 761-2177
