Atlanta Judge Again Denies Bond For Love And Hip Hop Star Charged In Sex Assault With Minor Case: Child’s Mother Addresses Court, Asks For Bond Denial

Reality TV personality Sidney Starr will continue to sit in jail with no bond after a Fulton County Superior Court judge declined to issue bail on charges related to an alleged sexual encounter with a 13 year old boy inside a metro-area hotel earlier this month.

Hapeville police arrested Starr, government name Sidney Favors, on August 2nd after investigating the alleged incident following interviews with Starr and the underage male victim.

Starr allegedly admitted the boy entered her room, at which point police made the arrest. Favors was then held without bail by a judge.

A few days later, an attorney representing Favors filed a motion for a bond hearing which took place today following a pre-indictment preliminary hearing.

Favor’s attorney described her as a good-natured, law-abiding, lifelong resident of Chicago whose only contact with law enforcement had been through traffic tickets. Her family ties to Georgia were also highlighted.

But the victim’s mother also addressed the court and asked for bond to be denied after describing the alleged incident’s devastating impact on her son.

“He is required to attend intensive therapy to begin a healing process for what was done to him. At this age, when he should feel safe, innocent, and protected, he is now forced to cope with trauma that no child should have to ever endure,” the boy’s mother said in court.

The mother also said the alleged incident has been traumatic for not only the victim but for his family as well.

“We’ll do anything possible to remain strong for our child, but our family feels as though our sense of safety and normalcy has been taken away,” she said in court.

Superior Court Judge Thomas A Cox, Jr. denied bond, determining in his order that Favors posed multiple risks including potentially fleeing the jurisdiction to avoid trial

The judge’s order also deemed Favors a risk to the safety of the community while also saying Favors could potentially intimidate witnesses, reportedly due to her significant social media following.

Starr is a well-known transgender reality TV personality who has appeared on several shows including “Baddies ATL,” Season 9 of “Love & Hip Hop: New York,” and MTV’s “Wild ‘N Out.”

She rose to fame in the early 2000s after claiming she had been romantically involved with St. Louis rapper Chingy subsequent to taking a fan photo with him.

The allegation of a sexually romantic encounter between the then-popular rapper and a transgender woman led to the ruination of Chingy’s rap career although years later, Starr would recant her story and acknowledge making it all up.

If convicted, Starr could face years in prison along with the requirement that she register as a sex offender.
