Music legend and East Point Hip Hop icon Andre 3000 is about to drop new music, according to the superstar entertainer.
But don’t assume the new joints will sound like the rap classics ‘Dre released throughout the mid to late 1990s and 2000s as one half of dynamic rap duo Outkast, which has deep roots in East Point: Over the last several years, 3000 has tapped into his deep well of creative energy, releasing Jazz projects New Blue Sun, Moving Day and 7 Piano Sketches within the last three years.
According to Pigeons & Planes, music recorded with Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo “should be coming out soon.”
Andre 3000 has garnered headlines for being seen playing instruments at casual locations across the country, and made a pop-up appearance with his Outkast partner Big Boi months ago at a Campbellton Road convenience store where the duo signed autographs and took photos with fans from the neighborhood.
Andre 3000 and Big Boi attended East Point’s Tri-Cities High School and were a major component of the chart-topping Dungeon Family collective of artists, which recorded many hits from their East Point studio.
