State Representative Tonya Miller (D-Atlanta) is vacating her seat to run for Georgia attorney general, setting up a contest to replace her in the Georgia Legislature. Four candidates, all identifying as Democrats, have announced their intention to seek the seat.
The Republican party has not fielded a candidate for this race. That means whoever wins the Democratic party is likely to go on to win the general election in November.
Kavon Arnold; Kenn Collier; Matthew Rinker; and Willie Roseberry have announced their intention to seek the seat, which stretches across East Point, College Park, and into Atlanta. A significant portion of the district map covers East Point.
The East Point News will be sending out a questionnaire to the qualified candidates and will report on their response in the coming days.
