Repairs To Singer & Actress Dolly Parton’s “Walk Of Fame” Star Quickly Get Underway After Vandalization: Fans Disgusted, Star Passed Away Last Week At Age 80

The Hollywood Walk of Fame star honoring the late country music icon Dolly Parton was severely vandalized on Monday, turning a vibrant public memorial into a crime scene just one week after her passing.

Parton, who died on August 25 at the age of 80, had been showered with tributes by grieving fans. Her star, located near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Orange Drive, was buried under an accumulation of flowers, handwritten letters, and candles left by mourners over the weekend.

According to witnesses and officials from the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the peace at the memorial was shattered Monday afternoon. An unidentified woman reportedly approached the site, began kicking the glass prayer candles, and used the shattered shards to deeply gouge and deface the brass lettering of Parton’s name. Moments later, an unrelated male suspect allegedly snatched the remaining floral arrangements from the site before fleeing.

The Los Angeles Police Department has opened an investigation into the vandalism and theft. Authorities are currently reviewing area surveillance footage, though no arrests have been made.

The Hollywood Historic Trust, which manages the landmarks, moved swiftly to address the desecration.

“Dolly was the nicest person in the world, said fan Kent Schuelke to ABC 7 Los Angeles. Schuelke was visiting the Walk when he offered an opinion shared by appalled fans everywhere of the beloved late singer. “To vandalize Dolly’s star…I can’t think of anyone who deserves that less”.

While the star was already slated for minor maintenance due to structural cracks, the extensive surface damage forced crews to initiate a complete replacement of the terrazzo tile.

On Tuesday morning, construction workers jackhammered the defaced marker to lay down a fresh brass and stone monument.

The newly poured star is currently curing under protective barriers. Officials confirm it will be fully polished, uncovered, and reopened to the public by Friday, September 4, 2026.
