A 13 year old boy and a 45 year old man were shot and killed at a home on Rockcliff Road in a Dekalb area of Atlanta just before 4 a.m.. in an extremely violent and shocking drive by shooting.
WSB-TV reported from the scene and has identified the victims as Demarcus Shirley (13) and Chauncey Newman (45). Their relationship is presently unclear but people who spoke to WSB-TV’s Tyisha Fernandes described Newman as a father like figure to others in the home–which means other children were in the home when it was fired on.
Additionally, Demarcus’ friends said the home was occupied by 10 people who were there for a sleepover, a clear suggestion that the shooting had the potential to become even more tragic.
A dog was also shot and killed at the home, according to WSB-TV’s Tyisha Fernandes.
