Veteran Hollywood Actor Danny Glover Reveals Alzheimer’s Diagnosis

Legendary actor Danny Glover has publicly revealed that he has been living with Alzheimer’s disease for several years. The 79-year-old Lethal Weapon star shared the news in an emotional, pre-taped exclusive interview broadcast on The Today Show with Lester Holt, as well as in an intimate feature with People Magazine. Despite noting that the progressive neurodegenerative disease has begun slowing his movement, speech, and memory, Glover emphasized that he remains grounded and resolute. “I could live with it, in a sense,” Glover told Holt. “I’m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing.”

Glover’s daughter, Mandisa, first noticed subtle changes in his typical behavior and routine in 2022. He privately received his formal diagnosis in 2023, shortly after receiving his honorary Oscar.

Glover shared his diagnosis with the public weeks ahead of his 80th birthday.

Danny Glover is one of Hollywood’s most prolific actors, and among the most celebrated Black actors on the screen. His career spans several decades and his list of credit includes memorable TV and film roles in movies such as the Lethal Weapon film franchise, The Color Purple, Dreamgirls and many more.
