Caitlyn Jenner “loves” Presdient Donald Trump, but isn’t fond of his administration’s passport policy, which resulted in her getting a passport issued by the U.S. State Department with “MALE” stamped on it. Jenner, who rose to fame as Olympian Bruce Jenner, but later had sex reassignment surgery, is now known Caitlyn Jenner and has spent years, reportedly, ensuring all of her identifying documents match her transitional gender.
Caitlyn reportedly tried to correct the matter herself, resubmitted her passport documentation, but again the documents were returned with MALE stamped on her passport.
This was too much for Jenner, a lifelong Republican estimated to be worth $25 million: She spoke out about the inconvenience, which she quickly said she did not blame Trump for personally.
“I don’t blame President Trump, I love him. But for a lot of people, this is an issue.”
She went on: “I’m trying to figure out now, what is the next step to try to figure this out because as we know, even to vote now you have to have proper identification. I don’t have that.”
Trump issued an executive order the day he was inaugurated that requires passports display sex assigned at birth, a policy that has inconvenienced travel for trans Americans across the country and has also prompted multiple lawsuits.
Caitlyn went on to mention she might not now be able to vote, but also chose not to blame Trump for that also, even though the president issued a separate voter ID executive order that requires a birth certificate to vote, among other items of identification. Voting rights advocates have said the order could prevent untold numbers of people from voting, and have decried the move as voter suppression.
Caitlyn, a big supporter of the MAGA movement, admitted she hasn’t heard from Trump, who she evidently hopes will intervene in her case, because he’s busy right now she said.
So her passport saga continues.
“I’m trying to figure out now, what is the next step to try to figure this out because as we know, even to vote now you have to have proper identification. I don’t have that.”
