A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with two counts of malice murder following the fatal shootings of two men at a DeKalb County park last week.
The DeKalb County Police Department confirmed that the juvenile suspect is also facing charges of possession of a pistol by a minor and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Due to the suspect’s age, authorities have not released his identity.
The Incident
The arrests follow a report of gunfire early Friday morning, July 24, 2026, which drew officers to Constitution Lakes Park located at 1305 South River Industrial Boulevard. The 125-acre park is well-known locally for its Doll’s Head Trail hiking path.
Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims suffering from fatal gunshot wounds in the park’s parking lot. They were identified as:
- Tomas Pascual Cano, 23
- Andres Pedro Baltazar, 27
Investigators towed a gray van from the scene, which police confirmed belonged to at least one of the victims.
Current Status
Officials have not yet released information regarding a possible motive, or whether the teen suspect knew the victims before the shooting.
The investigation remains active, and the DeKalb County Police Department urges anyone with additional information to submit an anonymous tip through the DeKalb County Police Department App or by texting “DKPD” to 847411.
