Man Dies At 6 Flags Over Georgia After Fall From Roller Coaster; Four Injured: “Goliath” Ride Is 200 Feet High, Hits Speeds Of Up To 70 MPH

A horrific incident at Six Flags Over Georgia left one person dead and four others injured Monday afternoon after a rider plummeted from the Goliath roller coaster.

The tragedy occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m. at the popular theme park located just outside Atlanta. Witnesses described a chaotic and terrifying scene as the unidentified male rider fell from the hypercoaster during its high-speed run.

According to eyewitness reports and local officials, the victim hit a roller coaster car multiple times during the plunge before landing near a wooded area and the roof of a park attraction.

The mid-ride accident triggered an automatic emergency stop, leaving the roller coaster stranded on a steep incline. Park crews were forced to evacuate trapped passengers four at a time down a narrow emergency stairway.

The Cobb County Police Department’s major crimes unit has launched a full investigation into how the rider became unrestrained or ejected from the vehicle.

“We are deeply saddened by today’s tragic event,” Six Flags Over Georgia said in a statement, adding that the park is cooperating fully with local authorities.

Local leaders, including Mableton Mayor Michael Owens and Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid, released statements expressing heartbreak for the victims and their families.

The Goliath, a 200-foot-tall “hypercoaster” designed by Bolliger & Mabillard, reaches speeds of up to 70 miles per hour. The ride will remain closed indefinitely pending the outcome of the safety investigation.
