Hearing Judge Removes City Councilmember From Participating In Stockbridge Mayor Deliberations: Judge Says Councilmember Lakeisha Gantt “Went Too Far” When She Contacted Mayor’s Family, Sent Emails

A Stockbridge City Councilmember has been removed from participating in City Council deliberations seeking to determine if Mayor Jayden Williams violated the law and if so, whether he should be removed from office.

Hearing Judge Gino Brogdon was clear that he determined there was sufficient evidence to remove Councilmember Lakeisha Gantt from participating in hearings pertaining to accusations leveled against Williams by members of the city council. Gantt and others on the council have accused the mayor of violating his office by misspending taxpayers dollars and maintaining an inappropriate relationship with an 18 year old local high school student.

But Brogdon, a former Chief Magistrate Judge in Fulton County who also once hosted a television court show, said he was moved by Gantt allegedly sending email communication to the mayor’s grandmother, a former elected Henry county official, suggesting the mayor resign which Judge Brogdon said, “went too far”.

The judge also said a separate email sent by Gantt “was clearly a threat” in which Gantt allegedly wrote to the mayor, “You don’t want me as an enemy”.

In addition, the judge took issue with comments made by Gantt in which she allegedly questioned whether the mayor could be trusted around children.

However, Gantt has insisted she would be impartial in determining if Williams is guilty of violating the terms of his office.

The mayor has insisted he is completely innocent of the accusations leveled against him.

Judge Brogdon has set a public hearing for the council’s case against the mayor for Saturday, September 12 at 9 A.M..
