Nolan Wells’ mother, Christine Wells-Wonsley, has issued formal legal subpoenas to several major social media companies and a location-tracking app to retrieve account data following her 18-year-old son’s mysterious death. The legal filing was submitted in Jackson County Chancery Court on July 28, 2026, after she was officially appointed as the administrator of her son’s estate.

Key Details of the Subpoenas

Targeted Companies: Subpoenas were sent to companies behind Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok, Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), and the location-tracking app Life360.

Requested Data: The family is demanding all account records, including current and prior usernames, passwords, phone numbers, email addresses, and IP addresses tied to account logins, resets, and metadata.

Communications & Tracking: The filings request all posts, stories, direct messages, photos, videos, and GPS location history. It also seeks identifying details for any individuals who communicated with Wells via these platforms.

Reason for the Legal Action

The subpoenas were triggered by growing concern over missing data from Nolan’s cell phone. According to his mother, photos, videos, and other content appeared to be deleted from the device after it was returned to the family but before investigators concluded their review.

The family is working with civil rights attorney Ben Crump to independently investigate the case. Nolan Wells disappeared on July 4, 2026, during a boating trip to Horn Island, Mississippi. While local authorities initially suspected accidental drowning, the family has strongly rejected that narrative and is seeking digital footprints to reconstruct his final hours.
