The City Of South Fulton Announces Senior Homeowner Rehabilitation Program; Up To $25,000 In Home Repair Assistance For Eligible Seniors Aged 62 And Up

The City Of South Fulton has announced a program to help seniors with home repairs, according to an announcement from the city’s Housing department.

The city will also host in-person help with applying for the program, which will award eligible seniors with up to up to $25,000 in grant-funded home repairs.

South Fulton, GA —July 2, 2026 — The City of South Fulton is investing in the safety, dignity, and independence of its senior residents by opening applications for the Senior Homeowner Rehabilitation Program, a federally funded initiative that provides up to $25,000 in grant-funded home repairs for eligible homeowners age 62 and older.

Applications will be accepted NOW through July 31, 2026.

Designed to help seniors remain safely in the homes they have worked a lifetime to own, the program provides funding to correct code violations, eliminate health and safety hazards, improve accessibility, and preserve the long-term livability of owner-occupied homes.

Eligible improvements include electrical and plumbing repairs, roof replacement, HVAC systems, exterior windows and doors, mold remediation, lead hazard reduction, and ADA accessibility modifications.

Funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, the assistance is provided as a grant and never has to be repaid.

The City has partnered with Nehemiah Project Community Development Corporationto manage the application process, determine eligibility, and oversee rehabilitation projects from start to finish. “A safe home should never be out of reach for the residents who helped build our community,” said Ingrid Thompson, President of Nehemiah Project Community Development Corporation. “This program is preserving independence, protecting quality of life, and ensuring our seniors can continue aging in place with dignity. Every repaired roof, safer entryway, and functioning HVAC system represents home improvement and peace of mind.”

Eligible applicants must:

• Be 62 years of age or older;
• Own and occupy a single-family home within the City of South Fulton as their primary residence;
• Maintain homeowner’s insurance;
• Be current on their mortgage, property taxes, and any liens; and
• Meet the program’s federal household income guidelines.

Applications will be processed in order of eligibility and receipt until all programs funds are awarded. Because funding is limited, eligible homeowners are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

To assist residents with the application process, the City will host two in-person application assistance sessions.
